Faith, Family, and Finding Myself: Ola’s Motherhood Journey

I’m a believer, a wife, a mother, a creative, clinician, and entrepreneur. All the hats I wore before becoming a mom helped shape who I am today. Motherhood is such an honor. To me, it means giving of oneself in ways that are often unseen, sometimes misunderstood, but never in vain. It’s about becoming a better version of myself so I can model healthy habits and mindsets for my children. It’s thinking of their well-being before my own while still caring for myself — so I can care for them by God’s grace. Motherhood means gentleness, kindness, self-control, and learning to love unconditionally.

Becoming a mother has shifted my perspective in ways I never imagined. It’s softened me, made me less selfish, and opened me to new depths of love. Having children often feels like watching your heart outside your body in plain view. It has taught me surrender and illuminated my faith like nothing else. It’s given me a boldness and confidence I’m still learning to settle into, a reminder that life is truly a gift. Some blessings are beyond price — and children are among the greatest.

Staying Me While Being Mom

Even as I pour into my family, I make space to nurture who I am. I pray, write, and make time for things I loved before motherhood, listening to music, traveling when I can, and pursuing creative projects. I started creating content as a therapeutic outlet, and it’s grown into a platform where I can share, teach, and create. Pursuing my passions also shows my children that they can pursue theirs.

Balance between motherhood, work, and personal life? That’s a moving target. Motherhood is a season-by-season journey. Work doesn’t pause when you return, and personal life requires intention. My husband and I are intentional - date nights, swapping childcare duties, and checking in on schedules. His support of my professional and creative ambitions allows me space to thrive, but it takes teamwork, communication, and lots of prayer.

Finding Calm in the Chaos

Meditation, grounding exercises, and deep breathing help me stay present. Sometimes, all I need is a moment to step back, breathe, and refocus. Life is happening in the everyday moments, feeding my baby, laughing with my kids, or simply sitting with my husband. I remind myself often that I don’t need a big event to feel joy. Contentment can be found right here, right now.

Motherhood has taught me flexibility and surrender. I can’t do it all, and I don’t need to. I need rest, grace, and the space to recharge. Relinquishing control, letting others help, trusting God with my children, and prioritizing what truly matters - has been one of the toughest but most freeing lessons.\Staying Me While Being Mom
